I used the Phil and Ted's for over 7 Years

When I was looking for a buggy for my first child, I was told to look at the Phil and Ted's stroller. This was told to me by a guy that worked at one of the most popular baby stores in my area, and he worked SPECIFICALLY in the stroller department.Why did he recommend the Phil and Ted's Strollerto me? Because at the time, it was 2003, there was no other stroller that was a combination of a single stroller with a jogging stroller. I was not a real exercise lover at the time (keep reading) and mainly wanted something that could get over my bumpy sidewalks, didn't have gargantuan wheels, was lightweight, and could get into the doorways at the mall.So we purchased the Phil & Teds Classic Buggy, Black/Charcoal and used it for at least 7 years. That's pretty good for a stroller don't you think?Let me start with the Product Features and then I'll go into a bit more detail as we go along.Product FeaturesFrom the ManufacturerThe phil&teds classic stroller is a single (one baby) stroller that has the ability to convert to an "inline" / double stroller (two children) - the key is the doubles kit (sold separately), which turns the phil&teds classic into a double stroller. When I owned it, like I said, it was a little bit hard to fold and I'm super excited to see that they've improved that feature. That feature itself is actually tempting me to buy the buggy again for my next baby!We loved the recline positions from upright to flat and definitely used it a lot.Remember I mentioned not loving exercise? Well, after my first baby, I joined an Mommy and Baby stroller exercise class and took my baby in the buggy to all of the classes- both inside and outside. It wasn't hard to get the baby in the bottom and it was fun!Another reason I preferred this 4 in 1 option to buying another stroller, or a regular double stroller, is that I knew I'd seen moms struggling with their very heavy, long double strollers trying to fit in the doorway in various stores in the mall and I didn't want to be one of them :) The buggy provided the sleek design of one baby on top of the other so I knew I wouldn't have a problem of my stroller being too wide or too long like a choo choo train :)I'm LOVING the new feature of being able to use an infant car seat on top, because before I'd have to take my baby out of the carseat when he was sleeping, not always fun. I'm glad to see there's the option of all in one.While the stroller wasn't 1000% perfect when I had it, I really do think that since it is the only 4 in 1 option that I know of- meaning, Stage 1: A perfectly flat newborn position Stage 2: Upright and recline for a toddler Stage 3: Add a doubles kit for the toddler, and use the perfectly flat position for your newborn... Stage 4: Use the doubles kit on the rear to make room for two toddlers. Those 4 options alone make it a stroller I think is definitely worth having. And like I said before, it seems the improvements in the buggyhave GREATLY enhanced the stroller.I'm definitely going to consider getting the stroller for my next baby. If you have two babies or two toddlers at home, I wouldn't hesitate to get the Phil and Ted's buggy. I don't know a better single to double stroller out there. And I've tried a lot having 3 kids :)

I am a big fan of the phil & teds brand. It's so innovative and makes it easy to grow with your family. I actually have the phil & teds classic v1 stroller in red (so not exactly this one) but I have really enjoyed using this stroller. We purchased the doubles kit in advance even though we haven't used that part yet because we only have one child as of now. Their are so many options with this stroller which makes it so nice to have and use. For one, it reclines fully so your child can sleep in it with it flat. It also can work for a newborn since it's lays flat. It also has a large basket so you can fit a diaper bag in it. I can hang things on the bar of the stroller without it falling over (some other strollers I've tried will tip).My big dissapointments with this stroller are: the folding system, it folds down great but the way it folds causes the handle bar to get scraped on the ground. It's difficult to prevent it and because of that, it's gotten scratched up a little on the handle bar. I have put a cover on it now to protect it but I wish they would change that. Another dissapointment is that I wish their was more padding on the classic stroller, I realize it's because its their basic stroller but it would just be nice.Last, I wish the canopy was bigger and covered more fully.Overall, I love this stroller and am glad I purchased it. It works really well with travel, and our life

GREAT double stroller that's tiny!

This thing seems super tiny to me- ever since my two kids (now 4 1/2 and 3) were both tiny I had a double bob- amazing push but SO big! Now that we live in a down town area and one of my kids or both often walk I did not want a massive double anymore. Enter the phil and teds classic with the doubles seat! This is the re-designed one (came out same time the new explorer did about a year ago). So far has worked well for our needs, even great on the BART train here in the bay area! Here's some pro and cons:Pros:Super tiny for carrying my two huge kids (50 lbs and 35 lbs!)Pushes very well for having all that weightFollow the sun canopy (they think its fun too!)Air tires- great outsidePretty light- about 32 lbs with the doubles seat i think?$429 with the doubles seatCons:Not much storage when a second kid is in the bottom seat- that's where their feet/legs goWeird fold- ok but long and oddMust take off second seat to foldPros outweigh the cons for us. Same price point as the ever popular city mini double but that thing is really hard to push with big kids like mine with the small hard tires. I also like that it is the size of a single stroller so it does not feel massive and weird to push when the kids are out of it :) Love the classic, great deal! Same as explorer minus a few things: hard footwell area, pockets on hood, hood on seconds seat, hard back on main seat, easier recline, and seat pads. Explorer does the same job for about $70 less :) horray!
