Dream Stroller!

Several years ago I saw a woman jogging with a Phil&Teds Sport stroller with doubles kit. Never having seen anything like it, I knew I wanted that stroller when I started my family. So while pregnant with my 1st child, I ordered the Phil&Teds Sport. I loved it mostly, but had a few complaints. Several months ago I realized that Phil&Teds had just come out with a new stroller that fixed all the complaints I had with the Sport. I promptly sold my Sport and purchased the Explorer and have been thrilled with my stroller ever since. Here are the things I love about the stroller:- it's a jogger stroller just in case you might ever want to run with it (front wheel can swivel or lock)- it has substantial wheels that will easily roll over any terrain (and glides like air on smooth surfaces)- it has a second seat that can be added when you have a second kid******* (prob the best feature!!!!- you won't have to buy a new stroller when you have your 2nd kid!!)- even with the second seat on, the stroller is only the size of a single stroller, so you're not this massive moving thing trying to get through a store or park.- it folds (easily!) almost flat & locks (some don't lock, so they're floppy, making it hard to get in and out of a car)- the handle moves so that whoever is pushing can put the handle where it is most comfortable for them (this is especially good for tall people)- the seat is padded, removable, and washable- you can buy an adaptor that allows you to put a car seat on the stroller. The doubles kit can be used at the same time.- it has an awesome sun shade that "follows" the sun so you move the shade wherever you need it to block the sun. The 2nd seat also has its own sunshade.- it has a great basket underneath. This basket is where the 2nd kid's feet go though, so once you're using the stroller for two kids, you lose a lot of the basket storage, but to me its totally worth it to have a stroller that holds 2 kids but isn't massive. I solved that issue (lack of storage when used with 2 kids) by getting a diaper bag back pack.- the brake is very very easy to use (a huge improvement over the Sport)I honestly don't have a single complaint about the stroller. The only negative thing to be aware of is the lack of storage when used with two kids. But like I mentioned, this con is really just a trade off for having two kids fit in the space of a single stroller. It's just something to be prepared for.Finally- Phil&Teds customer service is fabulous! When I first received my new stroller, it came with a deformed wheel. I immediately called Phil&Teds about it. Since the stroller was still so new, they didn't have replacement parts yet, so they took a wheel off their demo stroller at their office and sent that straight to me. I was incredibly impressed.Every time I use my stroller, I think about how wonderful it is. Every time I see a mom struggling to push her massive double stroller through a store, I think about how awesome my stroller is. I can't tell you enough how wonderful it is. And how unique it is. It's worth every bit of its price tag!

I never write reviews, but I was motivated to say something about this stroller because it has been the best thing we have purchased for the new baby. We have a 2 year-old and an infant, and this stroller is the only reason I have a chance of getting out the door during the day in the freezing winter weather. We call it the "sleep machine." I have the double seat attached up top with my 2 year-old (in a cozy stroller bunting), and the regular seat below, reclined all the way, with the infant in the Phil and Teds cacoon. It doesn't take up any more space than a single stroller, it is easy to maneuver (even with one hand) down narrow asles, and both kids fall asleep after walking only a few blocks so I can do my shopping in peace! Wow! I imagine it would be a pain to fold up and take in and out of a car since it is heavy and doesn't fold with the second seat attached, but that isn't an issue for us because we live in the city and walk everywhere. The sun shade is genius, and I love the pockets on the side. The foot brake is easy to use and SO much better the the old versions on the other Phil and teds strollers (we tested out the dash which is miserable!) It is also easy to pack a lot of stuff around. I have a diaper bag attached to the side and the rain cover in it's nifty little pouch on the other side. I have a carabeener clip for grocery bags on the handle, and of course there is the bottom compartment. I look like a bag lady after I'm done with the shopping, but I don't care because it all gets home without me breaking my back or having to pay for delivery. I just LOVE this stroller. The biggest con is the price. With all the extras, it is very very expensive. But I expect we will get a lot of use out of it and it is worth it so we all don't go stir crazy this winter.

convenient for two but tricky to unfold

I love this stroller for the convenience of being able to carry two kids in the space of a single stroller! When I see people trying to maneuver their double strollers around stores and other crowded spaces I feel VERY very happy (and a little smug) to have found such a fabulous solution.I always promised myself that when/if I ever got a "nice" stroller I would never complain about it because I HATED talking to people about their expensive strollers before and only hearing their complaints.... I used to think - If you spend that much money on a stroller you don't have the right to complain! You just have to love it!Unfortunately, I DO have a few complaints...1. If you spend over $400 on a stroller, you have earned the right to at least ONE pocket to hold your keys/cell phone. Unfortunately there are no pockets in this stroller except for a panel on the side of the sun shade that has one small piece of velcro holding in "closed". So I ended up purchasing the console from "bob" to hold keys and water bottles.2. The red button that you push to release the stroller as you are unfolding it is very sticky and hard to push. I haven't figured out if I am doing something wrong, or if it is a defect, but I am contemplating calling the company to find out why this is so hard to open. Yesterday it took me maybe 3 or 4 minutes of playing with the red button before I could get it to release... WAY TOO LONG!3. The sun shade is a bit tricky since it is not permanently attached. (It moves or comes off depending on how you attach the second seat). Well, I find that it pops off almost every time I take the stroller in and out of my car and is not that easy to re-attach. Again, I don't know if I am doing something wrong or if this is a defect in my stroller. But I wish I didn't have to worry about putting it back in place every time I use the stroller.Also - I want to explain to people why this is not an IDEAL jogging stroller.We DO use it for jogging and it works just fine, but now I understand more why they do not advertise it as a jogging stroller. Since the second seat attaches behind, the majority of they weight of the stroller is concentrated in the front to be able to balance when there are two kids. But what that means is that it is not that easy to push down on the handle bars to lift up the front wheel for smooth and fast transitions over rougher terrain. I remember my other jogging stroller being very easy to tip back and balance on two wheels - the Phil&Ted is too heavy in front to do that.We do NOT use it for jogging when carrying two children since there is not enough space to take a full stride with the second seat attached on the back. I think this info would have been helpful when purchasing the stroller since I could not figure out why it was "not a jogging stroller".All the complaining aside, we do LOVE this stroller. The ability to carry two kids in a stroller this size (it fits into our car along with groceries and other junk!!) trumps all of the complaints I have listed above!
