We bought this when my 2 year old had outgrown his Safety 1st Recline and Grow seat. We wanted the continued option of having a tray, and we wanted the tray to be washable (i.e. plastic and seamless). I needed something that would not tip easily and would accommodate larger children. This seat fit the bill better than anything else I found. The fact that it came with an electronic gizmo was an afterthought.Assembly was straightforward, though the directions were maddeningly vague. The hardest part was attaching the tray mount because a bit of muscle was needed. The seat cushion also proved to be a bit of a puzzle. It appears to be made to fit a smaller seat. I ended up not using anyway it because it's much easier to clean the seat without it.The seat is sturdy as long as all the bolts are properly tightened. My son tries to climb into it (which I actively discourage), but it has not come close to tipping. Once seated, the 3-point seat belt does a great job of keeping him from climbing out. I don't use the shoulder straps at all. The buckle requires a bit of hand strength to open, but it loosens up a bit through use.The tray is sufficiently large, and there is a handy full-size insert that makes clean-up easy. It is flat and smooth so that suction cup bowls stick well. Unfortunately a child can easily remove the entire tray insert (potential mess - watch out!). It would be better if it snapped in. The cup holder is shallow, and serves only as a marker of where to put a cup. It does not really prevent things from tipping. The entire tray assembly is removable with a simple squeeze (by the adult) to the front and there are three positions so that it can be brought close in to the child or moved further away.The "interactive" part of this chair consists of a water resistant (top only) toy that fits snugly in the high chair tray (remove the other insert first). Despite the rather complicated picture, it only has one button in the middle. The child hits the center of the tray and a drum sound is made or letters of the alphabet are spoken out loud. Red lights come on in a simple grid pattern. There are three modes, all of which play a song loop that is short enough to drive just about any adult crazy. We endure this part of the toy for the sake of keeping a wiggly toddler occupied while we eat. The top surface wipes clean with a sponge. You can put finger food on it, but there is no lip around the edge so it's not good for serious meal time. Also, the power switch is right in front of the child, so is a serious temptation for play and is likely to get caked with food. There is a volume switch (two modes) on the side, also within reach of the child.I would not pay full price for this seat (thankfully I didn't). I don't know where the MSRP came from, but it's absurd. Also, this really isn't for babies, even with the shoulder straps. I'd recommend this seat for ages 18 months and up. Younger than that and you may be frustrated with the lack of support on the sides and the height of the tray.
