Definate Baby shower must have gift!!!!

I found this at Target and have completely fallen in love with this portable placemat. It is so easy to carry, fits beautifully into a smaller size diaper bag, it's washable and it has a built in food catcher! We've so many people stop us while we are eatting to ask where we got it from! It's a must have for any parent of a young toddler, and it's so much better and gives us parents a safe feeling to know your child's food is on clean surface! This will be a definate gift for any family and friends that have new babies. 1 thing I will caution you about is when you roll it up and store it, don't roll it up super tight, because the next time it will be harder for the suction cups to stick. This only happened once to me and then the next time I rolled it up much looser and it stuck down!

The Tiny Diner portable placemat is a rubber mat that includes a crumb/spill tray to bridge the gap between the table and your little one. It cleans up easily either in the sink at home (I also called the manufacturer and found out that it's dishwasher-safe in the top rack) or else with wipes on the go. It will protect your table at home from knicks and scratches from banging utensils and dropped cups. It minimizes the mess all around with a lip on its border that trips minor spills and a deep tray that hangs over the edge of the table, protecting your baby's lap. This last feature is a must-have during the independent phase of learning how to use forks and spoons.Away from home, it's a great way to let your child eat according to his or her home routine. It also protects him or her from germs on the table. The only drawback is in the transportation. The mat is a little like a roadmap - you'll never get it folded back as nicely as when it first arrived. As a result, it can take up a lot of space in a small daytime/afternoon diaper bag.Judging from other reviews, it seems that this is yet another in the long list of love-it-or-hate-it items that are subject to your child's tastes. Meal time has changed

This is my first review on any product (and as most first time parents, we own LOTS of baby gear) but I have been SO pleased with this product. My son is 11 months old and VERY busy. Eating out and away was quite difficult until we received this product as a gift. We can put his finger food down on a LARGE clean surface and it keeps him busy while we also get to eat! The mat stays put with the suction cups, is large enough to allow him to push his food around, is fun to look at, has a great "catch" for the food he pushes off the mat, is easy to clean, and rolls up neatly for transport. This has become one of the essentials of our diaper bag. This product is an absolute necessity!

Dangerous!

We thought this chair was stylish and functional. Unfortunately the contruction is poor and almost caused my son to be seriously injured. The front crotch strap is held on by a nail and staple, and broke when he was sitting in it causing him to slip forward and the nail and staple to be exposed. Don't buy this junk!

I like the chair, but.......

My grandson is 6 mos. old and just sitting up by himself. He likes this chair because he's not as confined as he was in his old high chair. I like the chair because of it's sturdy construction, modern looks and also because he will be able to use it without the tray table as he gets older. Here's the but: the straps are flimsy and poorly designed. There's a crotch strap under the tray table that attaches to the seat. It's very short and cannot be adjusted, so once you lower the seat, you have to remove it. I wouldn't leave him unattended in the chair because the shoulder straps allow him too much movement because of the way they're attached to the back of the chair and the waist belt fits too low on his body. Also, the straps have to constantly be re-adjusted.

great chair

Works great for my daughter with gravitational insecurity. I got the espresso color and it matches our dining room table perfectly. The stain has a strong smell when you first open the box, but it was gone after a day. I couldn't find a chair that would fit our table until this one. Glad I didn't spend an extra $100 on another brand. Easy to put together and seems sturdy so far for my 2.5 year old. Note: not using for baby and didn't attach tray or front rail.

Definately one of my better choices in baby gear

I have made some unbelievably moronic choices when it comes to baby gear. This was definately not one of them!I had originally wanted to just go with an infant to toddler feeding station set up, but then I saw and purchased a Peg Pergeo Prima Pappa out of the PennySaver. Oooooh, Peg Perego... Had to have it...I hated hated hated HATED that chair. It was huge. The tray was too high. It had a zillion and one little nooks and crannies to get food into. I ended up shoving it back and forth between the kitchen and the laundry room for months. Once my baby really got into eating solids (which he didn't do until 7 months) I fed him in his bouncy, on the floor. I just didn't want to deal with cleaning that high chair. Even once he got to be a better (neater) eater, the space issues drove me bananas.I sold it - at a loss - and bought the Fisher Price booster seat instead.I love love love LOVE this little chair.First of all, it goes on our dining room chair - so it takes up no additional space. My baby fits in it very comfortably - it is just his size. I can put Cheerios on the tray for him and he can pick them up and eat them (although it does seem he drops and sits in them about half the time, too...) No nooks and crannies so clean up is easy. We can easily pack it up and take it to a resturaunt and he is so happy to sit in his little seat, smack the tray, play with his toys, eat his Cheerios - we are able to eat out in public again. I never thought I would be a germophobic parent but I do appreciate being able to take our own seat along from a cleanliness aspect, too. This chair is inexpensive enough that if you are lazy, or just like to be prepared, you could even buy two and always keep one in the trunk of your car for going out.I don't really see the point in having the tray insert - the tray is so easy to wipe down but, who knows. Maybe it will come in handy some time.I do have some concerns about this chair really suiting a child from infant to toddler. It does not recline, as some of the other boosters do. However, in my experience, my child really was not ready to eat until he was able to sit up right. You can always feed your baby in his bouncy, if he needs a reclining feeding seat.It does seem a little small to fit a toddler into, but once the tray is removed and it is used as just a booster seat, it will probably be fine. I really like that your child can get so close to the table using this little seat.Thumbs up, way way up, for this little seat. I plan to buy two more as baby gifts for my brother and cousin who are expecting babies in October (not with each other).--Update--I had twins last year and we needed a second booster. I wanted to get the same one and we went to TRU to get one - but they only had the yellow and orange one. I did notice it didn't have the extra tray, but I also noticed it cost less. Since the extra tray was kind of useless anyway, I didn't mind much. So we got the yellow and orange one and took it home and then I realized the height doesn't adjust like it does for the green and blue one. Arg, I thought. Then I thought, does it really matter?? The yellow and orange one is at the same height as the blue and green one when it is in the 2nd/middle position. So I just put the blue/green one in the second position, set the chairs up next to each other, and let the girls eat. Works just fine. I was a little miffed at the cutting out of features but it's nice that the price is lower - and really these features aren't needed. I'd assumed the blue/green one was d/c'ed when I only saw the yellow but I guess that's not the case. So blue and green, or yellow and orange - they're both good.

Awesome booster seat!

I originally bought the "Swing Tray - Portable Booster Seat" because it was cheaper and I thought that it would be just as good. Well, it fell apart. I got this one and have been very please. It's is like a travel version of the Healthy Care Highchair.

There is a removeable feeding tray that can be put in the dishwasher. It has a cup holder and snaps right on to the main (blue) tray.

There are three different height settings. This is great for traveling because different tables can be different heights.

The back of the car and the trays are removeable, turning the seat into a booster for older and/or larger children.

The seat is all one piece and there are no seams or crevices for food to get stuck in. It also makes the seat very easy to clean.

The seat has a three-point seatbelt that adjusts, so it can accomodate a growing baby and toddler.

The booster folds up and even has a shoulder strap to make it easier to travel with. There is a lid that snaps onto the feeding tray. It is also dishwasher safe. I like the cover you can put on the tray, just so you know it's not getting dirty.

There are straps on both sides and on the back of the seat. This makes it much easier to fit onto a variety of chairs. This is great especially when eating out.

You will love it, I promise!

I recently got rid of my very expensive Peg Perego high chair and replaced it with this. The high chair was impossible to clean and feeding time turned into a huge mess and left me with a major clean up job every time my 10 month old son ate. I don't know why I ever got a high chair to begin with. Just save yourself the hassle and get this booster instead. I can't think of anything bad to say about it!

The tray fits perfect in my dishwasher and comes out looking brand new after every wash. I love the fact that the tray has 3 different positions when attaching it to the seat; on the closest setting I can get it right up next to my son's chest so that any food he drops falls onto his BIB and not into his LAP (which is what happened with the high chair, I had to change his clothes after every feeding). There are no cracks or crevices for food to fall down into. I also love the fact that it folds up into a neat little square so that I can take it with me when we go to visit Grandma. It's lightweight and takes up much less space than a full size high chair. When not in use, I just slide it under the table so you can barely see it. I love the fact that there is no cushion or seat cover to wash. This booster seat wipes off so easily, I never spend more than a minute wiping it off and it looks brand new. I wish someone had told me about this product before I wasted money on a full size high chair!

Includes plastic foot pads to assist with leveling and stability. The Evolve is for use from approximately six months (when your child can sit unassisted) to a maximum weight of 175 pounds (79.5 kg). Seat cushion attaches with hook-and-loop straps. Chair is made with solid wood. Feeding tray is ABS plastic. Other plastic parts are made with PP plastic. Seat cushion is made with 100% polyester fabric, 100% polyester fill, and non-woven fabric. Wipe all wood parts clean with a damp cloth after each use, dry thoroughly. Hand washing is recommended for the feeding tray, although it is top rack dishwasher safe, too. Spot clean seat cushion and harness with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Great Product, especially for the money

This was one of the cheaper nice looking wooden high chairs with a 5 point harness, cushion & tray included. Our son is 7 months old and loves it. Seems very secure, although he is about 18 lbs and seems a little loose in the straps. It also gets a little dirtier than I would imagine, what with food slipping into the crack, but all in all it's a simple, secure, classy highchair. Love it!

Good but not the only chair you'll need

If you consider this high chair, make sure you have plenty of room. It doesn't fold up like most high chairs and is pretty large. It is very nice looking, though. The cherry is extra red in color. Much more red than our cherry dining room set. The back is not adjustable so I would not recommend for a young baby who cannot sit upright on his own. My six month old cannot use it yet - he needs something that reclines a bit. The tray does not have a cup holder either. The tray is not really easy to remove for cleaning like some high chairs. It is very solid and stylish. It is a good value.Update:We are using this more regularly now and the tray seems to get in the way of taking child in and out. The fabric does not have a whole under the seat for easy release. The straps are easily twisted. The legs are big and adults (and children) trip over them frequently.

WONT FIT COUNTER OR TABLE MORE THAN 1 1/2"!!!!

I'm not a fan of long reviews so I'm gonna keep this short. The product itself is very nice. Well made, great design and several extras that make it worth while. IF YOU PLAN ON PUTTING THIS ANYWHERE OTHER THAN A 1 1/2" COUNTER OR TABLE, don't buy it!! I only write this because, as a consumer, there is nothing more frustrating than making a purchase, being exited about it, and then getting it home only to find out it doesn't work...

Will not fit my table.

I totally agree with the first reviewer. I was super excited to get home and set this up and it will not fit my table with a 4" lip/skirt. Very frustrating. I was under the impression it would fit up to a 5" skirt but perhaps I was confused with another brand. I don't understand why anty company would bother making a product that is so limited on the size table it will fit. These (twins) are going back to the store. Back to the drawing board.

great for the first 3 months...then broke

I bought this for my 4th child. I had a traditional high chair for the others, and this was so much easier! It only fit on the end positions of our oval table, but that was not a big issue. I threw it in the wash just about every day for the last 3 months, and loved how easy it was to clean and replace this seat. I appreciated the tray feature as well. Another bonus is the flexibility to switch between attach-to-a-chair mode or hook-on-the-table mode.I have two complaints: 1. Sadly, this week the flat bottom support (it slides into a pocket of sorts to support baby's bum) has broken off from the frame so it is more like a camp chair. I'm not sure the snaps will hold, so we'll be moving it to attach-it-to-a-chair mode. Which brings me to 2. the unit was missing the attach-it-to-a-chair straps. I called customer service, but the shipment must have had a problem. I called again a few weeks later and the straps arrived 48 hours later. Too bad they were the wrong straps. I'll call again now that I need them.So, 5 stars for idea of 2-in-1 function and washability, but major fail on durability and customer service. UPDATE: called again, and a new seat is on the way. Hope it holds up better, but at least now I'll have two trays and a spare seat for when one is in the wash;) UPDATE 2: okay, baby is now 15 months old and the replacement seat had the same issue. BUT in looking at the photos on the box, I found that if you swing the back legs forward and attach the snaps to enclose both sets of legs [chair legs, not baby legs;)] you get tremendous support for the seat bottom. So now even with both tabs broken, the seat bottom is actually quite sturdy. Wish I'd done this from the beginning. It probably would have prevented the breaking issue. I'm glad I can keep using it attached to the table, as the booster mode doesn't actually raise baby to table height. So still 3 stars.

I thought he was crazy!

I thought my husband was crazy for wanting the most expensive high chair Babie's R Us had to offer. It's a high chair, right? We bought a decent Graco 11 years ago for #1, and used it for- what felt like -ever. After 11yrs and 3 (now 4) kiddos, the old Graco is long gone. But we have high-chair buying down to an art. The things we wanted:--WHEELS on all legs. We neeeeeed to be able to roll it around. To kitchen, various sides of the dining table, breakfast bar, etc.--Narrow wheel base (see above).--BIG TRAY. What is with the dinky high chair trays on so many models?--Ability to take baby in/out without taking the tray off entirely.--One-handed tray operation.I was leaning toward a less expensive brand (Chicco), until I tried to pull little bean from the seat and CRASH went the tray on the store floor. That and the cheap feel of the "arms" on the other brand (where the tray fits onto the chair) decided it for me. The Graco has everything we need. It rolls wonderfully, turns on a dime, can fit through the narrow spaces (doorways, b/w the table and the wall, etc.), has a good-sized tray that operates one-handed. So long as I'm a little careful I can get bean in and out without pulling the tray off entirely.This model also has a number of things I didn't *need* but LOVE. The tray is not just one layer, not just two, but THREE. Take the top insert off and there's still a tray. Pull the big tray off (the release is under the tray) and there's still a smaller tray underneath. This is amazing! It can also be used as a booster so easily my 11yr old can detach/reattach it. Plus, the booster base and the back support make a wonderful booster in itself. Not to mention the child seat option. This has been fun for my tiny 6-yr old. I bought one high chair and ended up with a great high chair, plus a booster for a sibling.The ONLY downside: the tray does not fit flush against baby's tummy, which leaves a gap for droppings. We use bibs with a front pocket, so this isn't a serious problem, though I do wish the tray fit more snugly. A baby in a thin diaper might fit better. Our little one has cloth-diaper-puffy-butt. All in all, the best, most durable high chair you're likely to find. Well worth the $$.

Perfect!

My daughter loves sitting in this, she is so much happier than the highchair I previously bought her. It rolls around very easily, and I like that I can leave the snack tray attached and just put her in and then buckle her. The seat pad is very soft and easy to wipe down. Also, it comes with a booster that can be put on a dining room chair, so you are getting two seats in one. I think this is the perfect highchair! I added a few pictures so you can see the features.

Can't live without

I purchased this high chair after using a friends high chair at their house for our little one. We have a six-month old and he started using it at around 4 months. It comes with a support insert for his neck which we used when he was first starting to sit up on his own. I LOVE all the options such as the one hand tray removal, the different inclines for the seat back, the ability to adjust height and those are just a few of the options. We also love the wheels which allows for me to move our son around to different parts of the kitche and dining room...the wheels even work well on carpet! I give this high chair the highest rating possible.
