Unfortunately, this was a complete waste of money.

My son has started to stand up and turn around in his highchair, and we couldn't find the original safety belt that came with his chair. A quick trip to Amazon turned up this cheap, well-reviewed safety belt. Cool. I bought it, and received it in the mail fairly quickly. I installed the belt, buckled it, and cinched it up as snug and tight as it would go around my son...and he promptly stood up and turned around WITH THE BELT STILL ON HIM.The safety belt is very elastic...I expected something like seatbelt material, but it is more like the waistband on a pair of sweatpants. It is completely worthless for its stated use, and my wife had to buy her own material and clasp to make a new safety belt. This one went into the trash. Looking at the picture and the previous reviews, I would not expect something that is so elastic a toddler could stretch it out with no effort. Belts are meant to hold something in place, right?

Love my belt!

I have one of these safety belts, and I absolutely LOVE IT! I can't tell you how many times I have been to a restaurant and put my child in a high-chair, just to find a broken belt. I've even been to restaurants with multiple high-chairs, ALL with broken belts. While this might not be a problem for some children, mine are constantly testing their boundaries and they need to be belted in for their own safety.This belt is awesome because you can attach it to the legs of the high-chair as follows: Separate the belt into two pieces, take one half and wrap it around the back leg of the high-chair and put it through the loop at the end of the belt. Do the same with the other half of the belt on the other back leg of the chair, then just buckle the two halves together in the front.If necessary, you can put each half of the strap through the loop on the end of the OPPOSITE half to make one long strap, then string it under the chair and buckle it in the middle. This is sometimes necessary if you run into an unusual type of high-chair.Also, the buckle folds up nicely and fits well in my diaper bag.Can also be used on shopping carts or pretty much anywhere that you find you need a little extra restraint for your child.If your kids are busy (and most are!) get one of these, you won't regret it!

I found a simple high chair at the thrift store for about $7, but wanted to secure my 1 year old in it, so I bought this belt. It was well worth the few dollars. I can take the tray off and not have to worry about her slipping out, but it also doesn't cut into her. She doesn't mind it either. I haven't figured out how the other parent was able to twist the straps into a 3 point, but there is plenty of extra strap to do so if you tried. I really would recommend this, and I may get another in the future because I cannot tell you how annoying it is to go through 5 shopping carts and every strap is busted!
