Graco almost had it right but horrible tray design

I had very specific things I was looking for in a high chair.-Dishwasher safe removable tray top-Machine washable seat pad-Non-cartoony looking fabric-Wide variety of adjustments (height, tray, footrest)-Maneuverability-Collapsibility (easy to store)I thought I had found everything I was looking for in the Graco TableFit but after having it for less than a week, I am returning it. My main issue with the chair is the tray system. There is a snack tray plus the standard slide-on tray (plus a tray insert). The snack tray is such a pain! I can't leave it in place and get my 8 month old daughter in the seat. I keep hitting her shin on the tray. Without the snack tray, I can easily set her in the seat, and then safety belt her in. Adding the snack tray becomes a burden after she is in the seat because her hands are everywhere and it takes two hands to safely insert the snack tray into the tabs on the seat. It's so easy to pinch her hand in between the snack tray and seat or pinch her leg between the crotch bar (attached to the bottom of the snack tray) and the seat. Since both your hands are busy trying to get the snack tray fastened in place, you really need another person to ensure you aren't going to harm your child in some way. After the snack tray is in place, you can slide the top tray in place, which isn't easily done either because it often doesn't properly line up with the slots on the snack tray (which hold the top tray in place).After the meal is over, the same problems arise again. You need to remove the top tray, set it aside, then remove the snack tray (which takes two hands to remove) and set it aside to retrieve your child (who you better have buckled in because you have to set that snack tray down before you can do anything else). If you try to remove the whole top tray/snack tray assembly at once before removing your child from the seat then you: a) dump all remaining food in your child's lap and b) smack your child in the face with the trays. If you try to remove your child while the snack tray is still in place, you scrape your child's legs with the underside of the snack tray.Storage is another issue. The high chair does seem to fold relatively flat (if all trays are removed) but then you have to store both trays in a separate location (as the chair does not have storage hooks for them). If you store either tray on the chair when folded, you really don't save a lot of space because those trays stick out so far.The only other complaint I have about the high chair is the fabric. I purchased the "Rittenhouse" color. You can't tell in the pictures, but the black fabric has the look and feel of faux leather or pleather. This alone was something I could deal with (since it did seem to wipe so easily) but I wish I would have known about the fabric beforehand.I really liked the other features of this chair and wish I could have made the dang tray system work for me. The variety of adjustments was rather impressive. The cleanability of the entire chair was quite nice. Also, I had no real problems with assembly. I will say getting the backrest tabs into the holes on the seat bottom was a bit difficult, but I didn't have the problems that some had. And I liked knowing this thing wasn't going to fall apart with my squirmy daughter who loves to rock and bounce.If you decide to get the chair, do yourself a favor and take a picture of how it's arranged in the box before assembly and save all packaging for at least a month. You may very well need it...

First of all I'd like to start this review with a description of how annoyingly difficult this chair is to put together. It doesn't even have a lot of parts which initially makes you think it will not be such a big deal. First you slide the 2 pieces of the chair body together which are supposed to snap into place and then screw together. That would be cool if they actually fit together, which they don't due to either warping or bad manufacturing. Despite much trying it never really snapped in and the screw holes didn't completely line up. Then on to affixed the reclining chairback to the body. Yep, 2 posts that are supposed to snap right into place. It was EXTREMELY difficult to get the two posts to snap into the holes. Like literally putting a knee down, putting all my weight on it and then trying to contort the plastic enough to get them in. After 5 minutes or so I got them in. The rest of the assembly was easy.The reward for all of that is a chair that is very flimsy and loose fitting. There is a *LOT* of play in the legs which is especially noticeable when you try to move it around on carpet. There is a 'bonus' snack tray that you have to have across the chair to use the main tray. This makes it difficult to get a toddler in and out vs. other chairs where the entire tray slides easily off if you need to. The safety belts require 2 hands to snap in.We have a 6 year old Baby Trend chair that had been through 2 kids and it's still more solid, stable, has bigger seat and easy to use than this one (minus is the cloth cover, harder to spot clean, must be machine washed once in a while). Save yourself the hassle and get the slightly cheaper and much better built Baby Trend or invest in better quality chair.
